Leahann is the founder and executive director of Desert Scholar Reading Enrichment. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and transitioned to the role of interventionist shortly after completing her Master of Education. It was here that Leahann developed a true passion for helping struggling readers, and through collaborating with a colleague, she quickly learned of the Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham methods. She was fascinated and was quickly hooked on this approach, becoming trained in Orton-Gillingham methods through Lexercise’s IDA accredited program and obtaining her Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist Certification. Leahann established Desert Scholar Reading Enrichment in 2017 and is passionate about helping students through providing research-based structured literacy intervention. She lives in Oro Valley, Arizona with her husband and their three daughters.

She has experience with students with Autism, Apraxia, and a wide range of learning disabilities and needs. Her background in public schools and Special Education allows her to help parents and students navigate the process of IEPs, modifications, accommodations and educational settings and services. She and her husband are parents to three daughters who have learned to love reading due to the endless piles of books all over the house.
Hi! I am Lauren and I have been in education for 8 years with four of those years being in dyslexia therapy. I have a B.A. in English and a M.S. in Reading Intervention. My passion is to fill a child's reading tool box with confidence and strategies! Watching students find themselves and grow as a reader is why I became a literacy therapist.
Kate has taught reading to students of all ages, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds for over twenty years. She graduated from Smith College and is a certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist, trained in several multisensory methods including Lindamood-Bell, F.A.S.T Phonics, and the Lexercise Structured Literacy Curriculum. In addition to teaching reading, she's written for television, run lights for a pop band touring Japan, and taught yoga. She just moved to Longmont, Colorado, and has a third-grade daughter and an exceptionally cute dog.
I have been teaching young readers since 1986, when I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
After teaching in the regular classroom for many years (primarily K-4th grades), I developed, designed and taught a reading intervention program (K-3rd) for ten years, which included full-time private reading tutoring for several summers. I spent the most recent nine years as a literacy coach in K-2 classrooms around the midwest.
Working one-on-one with struggling readers is my true calling, and I was so glad to discover Lexercise, the path that led me back to the kind of work I love the most.
